Wi-Fi shows 'Connected, no internet'
The computer associates with the local wireless access point successfully, but cannot reach the default gateway or WAN upstream servers.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- Wi-Fi icon has an exclamation point or globe overlay
- Network status states 'No Internet, secured'
- Other devices on the same Wi-Fi can browse normally

Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks → select your SSID → click 'Forget'. Reconnect and re-enter the WPA password.
Reset TCP/IP stack and Winsock catalog
In administrative Command Prompt, run 'netsh int ip reset' followed by 'netsh winsock reset' and reboot the PC.
Check for invalid static IP configuration
Open 'ncpa.cpl' → right click Wi-Fi → Properties → Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → ensure 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' are selected.
Turn off Random Hardware MAC addresses
In Settings → Wi-Fi, disable 'Random hardware addresses'. Some routers reject DHCP leases from rotating MAC addresses.
