TiWorker.exe (Windows Modules Installer) causing 100% CPU usage
The Windows Update background servicing engine (TiWorker.exe and TrustedInstaller.exe) gets stuck in an infinite scan or compilation loop while processing update components.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Click 'Run' next to Windows Update to reset corrupted background service states.
Clear SoftwareDistribution download cache
Open Command Prompt as Admin and run: net stop wuauserv && net stop cryptSvc && net stop bits. Delete all files inside C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download, then run: net start wuauserv.
Run DISM Component Store cleanup
Execute in Admin Command Prompt: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup to prune superseding update packages that cause TiWorker to loop.
Install pending Windows cumulative updates manually
Check Windows Update and let pending updates finish installing. Once all updates and reboots complete, TiWorker automatically drops back to 0% CPU.
