Motherboard powers on but hangs on CPU debug LED
Motherboard LEDs and fans operate, but the Power-On Self-Test fails at processor initialization, leaving a solid red or white CPU diagnostic LED.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.

Shut down the PC, switch off the power supply rocker switch (O), and unplug the AC power cord from the wall. Press and hold the chassis power button for 5 seconds while unplugged to drain all residual capacitor energy before touching any internal hardware.
Check CPU compatibility and BIOS revision
Modern motherboards often require a update to support newer processor generations. Use the rear USB Flashback button to flash the latest without a supported CPU installed. CRITICAL: Never turn off, reset, or unplug the PC while the update is flashing. A power interruption during EEPROM write will corrupt the firmware and brick the motherboard.
Reseat processor and inspect socket pins
Remove the CPU cooler and CPU. On Intel LGA or AMD AM5 sockets, inspect pins with bright light and magnifier for bends or socket debris. On AM4, verify no bent pins on the CPU underside.
Loosen uneven CPU cooler mounting pressure
Overtightened cooler screws can flex the motherboard substrate and cause pins to lose contact with the memory controller or power delivery contacts.
Clear CMOS battery
Unplug wall power, remove the CR2032 coin cell battery for 5 minutes, short the CLR_CMOS jumper, and reinstall to clear corrupted hardware states.
