DisplayPort monitor deep sleep no signal on boot
Modern high-refresh gaming monitors fail to wake from deep sleep power states during PC boot, causing the graphics card to report a VGA error LED due to absent EDID handshake.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- Motherboard white VGA debug LED stays on
- Monitor reports 'No Signal' and enters sleep mode
- Signal appears immediately if cable is unplugged and plugged back in

If using a GeForce GTX 900, 1000, or RTX 2000 series , download the official 'NVIDIA Graphics Firmware Update Tool for 1.3 and 1.4 Displays' to fix UEFI blank screen handshakes.
Replace budget cable with VESA-Certified DP 1.4 cable
Non-certified cables frequently have Pin 20 connected, sending back-power into the 3.3V rail. Swap with a VESA-certified cable with Pin 20 disconnected.
