Captive portal hotel / airport Wi-Fi login splash page not loading
The browser fails to open the hotel, café, or airport authentication redirect page because third-party DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH), VPNs, or HSTS security headers block cleartext HTTP interception.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.

Open your web browser and type: http://neverssl.com into the address bar. Because this site uses unencrypted HTTP without HSTS, the captive portal router will easily intercept and display the login screen.
Temporarily turn off VPN software
Disconnect and fully exit VPN applications (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Tailscale, Cloudflare WARP). VPN kill-switches block all unencrypted portal redirect gateways.
Disable DNS-over-HTTPS (Secure DNS) in browser
In Chrome/Edge settings, search for 'Secure DNS' or 'Use secure DNS' and toggle it off temporarily so local hotel DNS servers can intercept domain requests.
Type default gateway router IP directly into address bar
Open Command Prompt, run ipconfig, note the Default Gateway (e.g. 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1), and type http://[Default_Gateway_IP] directly into your browser address bar.
