Blue screen of death (BSOD)
A stop-code crash usually points to a driver conflict, faulty , or overheating, rarely the operating system itself.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.

- PC crashes to a blue screen with a stop code

Shut down the PC, turn off the power supply rocker switch (O), and unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet. Press the front power button once while unplugged to discharge residual capacitor energy before touching any internal components.
Note the exact stop code
Disable automatic restart (System Properties → Advanced → Startup and Recovery) so the code stays on screen, or check Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System after a crash.
Check for the obvious cause first
Recently installed a driver, , or stick? Roll it back or remove it before going further.
Run a memory check
Windows Memory Diagnostic or MemTest86 overnight; faults are a top cause.
Update or roll back GPU drivers
A clean driver reinstall (DDU + latest stable driver) resolves a large share of BSODs.
