ASRock Dr. Debug Hexadecimal POST Code Triage
Decode ASRock Dr. Debug 2-digit hexadecimal codes to isolate CPU, memory, chipset, and hardware initialization failures.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- ASRock motherboard stops booting with 2-digit LED code displayed
- stops at code 00, 19, 4C, 53, or d7
- System powers on but fails to enter setup screen
Interactive Fix Checklist
0 of 4 steps completedReference Dr. Debug code table
Code 00 means CPU not detected; Code 19 indicates early Southbridge/chipset initialization; Code 4C/53 indicates memory detection and training error; Code d7 indicates console input device (keyboard/mouse) not detected.
Perform power cycle and clear CMOS
Power off system, unplug AC power cord, and short the CLRCMOS1 jumper pins for 10 seconds (or press the rear Clear button) to reset settings.
Reseat DIMM modules in slots A2 and B2
ASRock motherboards require memory installed in slots DDR4_A2 and DDR4_B2 (or DDR5_A2 and DDR5_B2). Clean DIMM edge contacts with isopropyl alcohol before reseating. Press firmly on both ends until the retention latches snap shut with an audible click.
Disconnect peripheral devices
Unplug all external USB drives, hubs, webcams, and RGB controllers. A failing USB peripheral frequently halts Dr. Debug at codes b4 or d7 during device enumeration.
