AIO liquid cooler pump failure (immediate 95°C at idle)
The mechanical pump impeller has seized or lost electrical power, causing zero coolant flow and thermal saturation within 60 seconds of turning on.
Internal desktop parts run on harmless 12V DC voltage and cannot shock you. Simply unplug the wall power cable first, then touch the unpainted metal case frame to ground static electricity.
Common Symptoms & Tells
- CPU immediately spikes to 90-100°C inside within 60 seconds of powering on
- One AIO tube is scalding hot while the other tube and radiator remain cold
- reports CPU_FAN or AIO_PUMP RPM as 0 or 'N/A'
Interactive Fix Checklist
0 of 4 steps completedCheck pump power connection (SATA and 4-pin header)
Verify the AIO pump connector is firmly plugged into the dedicated 'AIO_PUMP' or 'W_PUMP' motherboard header, and auxiliary SATA power cables from the are latched.
Set pump header to 100% Full Speed in BIOS
Liquid cooling pumps require a constant 12V supply. In Fan Control, ensure the AIO_PUMP header is set to 100% constant speed, not fluctuating with CPU temperature.
Listen and feel for pump motor vibrations
Place a hand on the CPU block. If you feel no vibration and hear silence or a faint electrical clicking/rattling noise, the pump motor has burned out.
Dislodge air bubble airlock in pump chamber
Ensure the radiator is mounted higher than the pump block. If the pump is the highest point in the loop, air collects in the pump. Tip case 45 degrees while running to dislodge bubbles.
